Multi-account structure earns its complexity when separate teams, compliance boundaries or environments shouldn't share blast radius. We size the structure to what you actually have, not what a reference architecture assumes.
Documentation that explains why a decision was made, not just what it is. IAM roles named and scoped so a new engineer can understand them without asking us. Infrastructure as code your team can read and change, not console clicks only we remember how to repeat.
Not always. If the workload is a handful of services with predictable traffic, a simpler platform-as-a-service host is often cheaper to run and faster to hand over than AWS's full surface area — we'll say that rather than sell you the bigger platform.
